Before I get into my #OOTD (spring floral dress), I wanted to share what’s been going on in my neck of the woods. It sure seemed like a long week and I am ready for the weekend! Earlier this week, we arrived home from a quick family trip to Utah. Long car drives always stink for me and my husband insisted we make the exodus in one day (both ways) to have more time with family! We all survived and was welcomed to Utah with beautiful snow.
It had been years since we drove in snow! I am happy to report we are all alive and didn’t hit any patches of black ice! LOL! It was so fun to celebrate my niece’s first birthday, see my cousin’s new home, visit my sweet grandma, squeeze in a fun photo shoot for my client in which my entire family (minus Emi) took part in (stay tuned), and spend quality time with my extended family who I love to pieces! And, I can’t forget to mention we ate at Iceberg twice during our stay! This diner has the best shakes ever that are humongous!
Winter Memories
Emi and Chloe recalled memories as little girls playing in the snow while visiting their grandparents in Utah. It was so fun to hear their stories about snowball fights. For Elijah, it would be his first time experiencing SNOW and he couldn’t contain himself! We didn’t have a winter coat for Elijah and I didn’t feel it was necessary to buy one that he may never use again? So, I grabbed an old winter coat of Chloe’s that was sky blue and figured Elijah wouldn’t mind wearing it….because it was blue! It was too cute, when I found Elijah removing the faux fur trim from the coat’s hood before putting it on! He had to de-feminize it somehow!
Off, he went outside to my parent’s backyard to experience the winter wonderland! He had the best time and his cheeks were flushed with glee. He had so much fun and I am so grateful for memories like this! It was worth the trouble to travel to visit family for a short time and brave the cold!
Home Sweet Home
In Utah, I couldn’t help but complain how cold I was! I am a wimp, since living in Orange County for the last 15 years my blood has thinned! I was freezing — I mean literally freezing in Utah and couldn’t believe I had lived there all my life till graduate school. That is a long time freezing your buns off!
Though, it was amazing to be home with my extended family, it was so nice to return home to Southern California. My heart belongs to California! This is where we started our family. This is the place we call home. Our roots have been planted firmly in Southern California soil! There is no place like home.
Floral Dress
Speaking of “roots” our flowers we planted in our backyard are blooming! Hooray! We planted these flowers the first fall we moved into our home a few years ago. Spring flowers make me so excited, sentimental, and mindful about my life…past, present and future! Spring symbolizes rebirth, growth, and refreshment. This is how I feel wearing my spring floral dress. I am inspired by life’s recent opportunities, enthusiastic for unique projects, and eager to sow new seeds!
