How to Combine Patterns to Create a Fierce Outfit
I keep repeating myself, but I must say it. Fashion is fun. I love dressing up trying new combinations, patterns, colors, accessories. Just to find my own style. Sometimes even my kids jump in to help. They love being part of the process! It is great to share this passion with you, and show how things can be light and simple.
My most recent combination worked perfectly. I chose a SHEIN Leopard Print Blouse with a TOBI striped wide-leg pants. You are probably thinking, “Debbie, leopard print and stripes?” Yes! Let us break previous paradigms and say, “Girl, you can do it!”
Shein’s long sleeve leopard print blouse is a great addition to your closet. You can wear it for a casual weekend or at work. It has a tie neck, giving a sophisticated look while making it easy to combine with a pair of jeans or even leather. I chose to make my outfit with Tobi’s high waisted striped pants as it has a great flow, is chic and creates an awesome silhouette, stretching my legs. The stripes and leopard print don’t fight each other, but they make a powerful outfit so you can show you came to conquer! This outfit definitely requires a bold personality, and you should hold it fiercely.
If you also like to mix, I bring to you 4 tips to combine patterns to create a fierce outfit.
1. Color is everything
It is okay if the prints are different, you just need to match their colors. If the colors are harmonious, fewer chances are to have a bad combination.
2. Graphic patterns are neutral
Simple graphic patterns are easier to get along with other prints. Like the stripes and leopard, I mentioned before. You can mix simple graphic patterns, as black and white stripes with florals, animal prints or with other types of the same family.
3. Spread it
If you are matching different patterns, try to make them even. If your outfit has too much going on, choose one pattern on your top part and other on your bottom. It is okay to have a blouse and jacket mix but be careful to don’t overdo all in just one part of your body, spread it!
4. Add solid colors
Nothing better than adding a solid color on your match. Maybe your patterns all have an accent of yellow? You may add one solid yellow piece and make things calmer. Black or white can also do the trick.
