I am definitely a dress kind of girl. Wearing a dress highlights the best parts of my figure in the most comfortable way. Dresses — as well as skirts — are beautiful, feminine, and flowy and just make me super happy! I love to wear them year-round, especially during winter. Winter in Southern California (specifically Orange County) is the best! There is no threat of snow and ice. However, it does get quite chilly and for those days that I want to wear a dress or skirt, I call upon layers to help me stay warm, cozy, and comfortable.
Cardigans are the solution to the dilemma of being fashionable, yet protecting against cold weather. They come in many colors, prints, and lengths. It is such an easy way to dress up an outfit and is the perfect garment to keep you warm and cute. Cardigans are definitely a reliable wardrobe staple that gets used all season long.
Wearing a cardigan with your dress or skirt is such an easy fashion choice that compliments all women. You literally can’t go wrong. When wearing a dress or skirt that is patterned, I suggest choosing a cardigan with a solid color so that it does not compete with your dress or skirt. Conversely, when wearing a solid–color dress, skirt or top, choosing a patterned cardigan is a sure way to look on–trend and intentional. I love this uber soft, long cardigan from Bobeau. I am wearing a size larger and could have sized it down to a medium. But, either way, it looks great — the shade of green is fabulous and it feels like a warm, fuzzy blanket.
I love this dress from Beaufille. The green multicolor printed recycled polyester looks so chic. It is normally $385 but you can rent it for a quarter of that price with Rent the Runway Wardrobe (use code RTRDEBBIE to get you 40% off). This code provides 40% off 2 months of RTR’s Newest Memberships (our 8, 12 and 16–item plan).
