Happy Tuesday my friends!  How are you all doing? All weekend I have been walking with a gimp leg! I lifted more than I should of while doing a lounge with my left leg on the assisted Smith Machine bar weight and tweaked my left knee. My husband asked that I rest my leg and not exercise.  It is so frustrating because I love #gymlife and was getting stronger. But, I need to listen to my body and having to slow down is allowing me to be present in the moment. This is going to be a long week! If you have any tips to speed up the healing process of my ailing knee, do let me know!

I wanted to share with you this #OOTD that features what I consider a basic style but making it more interesting with some unique styling details. Just a few little tweaks can elevate your basic every day style. Let’s start with your basic wool jacket. A wool jacket is a necessity during fall and winter. However, I selected one with a faux fur trim to give the jacket a luxe appeal. It is simple details like this take take a basic jacket and make it extraordinary. Next, everyone has their basic black t-shirt, right!?! Well, with this look I decided to showcase an elegant black wrap kimono top. I love the pretty self-tie belt and the wide elbow length sleeve is alluring and unique.

Not So Basic Essentials

Do you own a pair of black jeans? If not, consider adding one to your wardrobe. This basic style of denim jeans will be on repeat on all year long. What is different about this particular black pair of jeans is that it is cropped and the double hemmed detail of the pants provide a chic element that raises the style bar! Every woman owns a pair of black heeled sandals (stilettos, kitten heels, block heels, etc.,). However, let’s take this basic style of heeled shoes up 10 notches by incorporating a detail that is attention grabbing, case in point my spike studded heels! If this pair of heels is too bold for you, something like pearl, feather, lace, animal print, metallic, etc., details in the shoe strap or heels which will give it major cred factor!

What do you think about the styling tips I shared today that will take your basic style and make it more interesting? I am excited to hear from you!  Thank you so much for stopping by! Make sure to visit me tomorrow for a special Valentine’s Day collaboration with a few of my lovely fashion blogger friends and an awesome giveaway!

I don’t know anything to speed the healing process, but I do know that your husband is right and you need to listen to your body. Right now, I don’t have any black denim, but I’ve seen a few outfits with it so may have to get a pair next time I am out shopping.

I can’t live without my black jeans. They are perfection and allow me to dress them up or dress them down. I feel like they might be more versatile than every other jean in my wardrobe.
