On the home front: what’s happening at the Savages
My kids did it! They survived the final week of school for 2020. Emi, Chloe and Elijah are so excited for winter break, and so am I. I have a junior and freshman in high school and a 4th grader in elementary school. It is amazing to see how grown up they are. Of course, they are still my little babes and always will be, however, I am so impressed with their dedication to learning and fulfilling their responsibilities with school. Emi was especially hard on herself and started crying when she learned that she got Bs in two of her classes. I told her to not the stress the small stuff and that, in fact, she had done great!
This year has been so hard and challenging for all of us, and honestly, more so for our children. They still are trying to understand the world we live in. It felt so good to comfort my daughter and tell her that she gave her best and that is all God wants from her. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes and said, “really?” It was as if she was shocked to learn that her effort was enough. And, I said yes and that I was really proud of her. If you are a parent, remember how much your kids love and need your approval, compassion and unconditional love. Our kids are our future and this is so exciting!
Black with shaggy faux fur: a hot combination
I have a brand new understanding of black! Recently, I really have embraced it, and I LOVE it. I used to shy away from it as I felt it was dark and boring. Now, I wear black any chance I can. It is truly classic, chic, and of course, slimming. I feel so confident and sexy wearing black. You can’t wear this color wrong. It is the perfect neutral. There are two trends I would love for you to try this season because they are fun and perhaps out of the ordinary. Try wearing a shaggy faux fur jacket and black jumpsuit. I can tell you this: It sure made me feel “extra special” and I loved it.
A shaggy faux fur jacket is perfect to layer any look, adding volumes of attitude and pizzaz with ease. Pair it with neutral accessories like a brown handbag and heels and little sparkle with rhinestone earrings. My ode to Olivia Newton John’s all-black outfit at the high school carnival in “Grease” is this black jumpsuit. It is effortlessly sexy and so much fun! You can wear it with heels like I do or even with a puffer coat and athletic shoes.
Shaggy faux fur with a black jumpsuit equals attitude and pizzaz. Give these two trends a try. Get in touch with your inner fashionista and have some fun! Get the same pieces from SHEIN. Use my code DEBBIES15 for 15% off your order. ENJOY!
