Thank goodness it’s cooling down because I love wearing denim jeans! To be quite honest with you, I wasn’t pro-jeans all of my life. I found it was more comfortable to hide my muscular legs in dresses. A great pair of jeans is hard to find, my friends! With my body shape of being petite (I am almost 5′ 4″) and muscular can make it feel impossible to find that perfect pair of jeans. Fit: Denim jeans must fit you in all the right places. Pay attention to the fit around your waist, thighs, crotch area, legs, inseam, and hemline. I know from experience if one element is off, no matter how cute or on sale it was…I will not wear it again.
Material: Hands down I have to have some sort of stretch in my jeans. Since I have an hourglass shape (and power quads), I need jeans with a little bit of spandex. A little goes a long way. This provides the extra give to allow me to move comfortably and creates body contouring.
Construction: I see jeans as an investment…just one pair can serve you for many occasions and styling preferences. I no longer settle for subpar jeans and you shouldn’t either. Any loose threads, uncomfortable seams, or inferior fabrics rub me the wrong way! Look closely at how the jean has been tailored. You want it to hold up from regular wear and washing.
