I need to publicly thank that awesome fashionista in New York who made that smart decision to extend the life-cycle of her luxury handbag by choosing consignment and supporting the movement of #NeverThrowAway. Her decision to thin out her closet by consigning her Chanel bag made it possible for me to own one of my own!
This decision to purchase my first luxury handbag was not made in haste. My husband asked me what I wanted for my birthday back in March and I said “my first luxury handbag!” I literally spent seven months researching what kind of bag I wanted (Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, etc.,) and the various creditable resale luxury stores I could purchase from.
Handbag Heaven
I immediately fell in love with Chanel bags because of its iconic history, style, and quality. It was so hard deciding between a classic black Chanel flap back or this bronze Chanel leather shoulder bag. After reviewing my options for what seemed like forever, this bronze leather one was my final choice! I love the unique color, the shape (bowler bag), and the size. My Chanel bag was purchased from Designer Revival.
Introducing National Consignment Day which is the first Monday of October, a national holiday that has been launched by The RealReal. The RealReal is an online store that offers the largest pre-owned authenticated luxury items for both women and men.
Extend the Lifecycle of Luxury
There are many reasons why October 2, 2017 #NationalConsignmentDay should be celebrated. One reason that stands out to me is sustainable living. - Donate – Give away your items to charities that support the environment, protect children, feed those in needs, or assist other notable causes. Donate to break cycle of family poverty with Good+ Foundation here.
- Valuations – TheRealReal offers office or facetime appointments. Connect with one their experts here. There are also several Luxury Consignment Office you may drop off your items. Search for a location here.
- Share – Show off your consigned goods on social media by using the hashtags #NationalConsignmentDay and #NeverThrowAway.

Love your Chanel Bag! Consignment is such a good initiative not only for sustainable reasons but also for the fact that a lot of us have things at home that we don’t wear anymore or have never been worn at all. Why keep them when somebody else will enjoy it.
I 100% support consignment shopping as it truly does give life to the otherwise thrown away merchandise that is still a gem to someone else 🙂
