This week has been a nice one despite being sick earlier this week.  I had a big win on Tuesday because I actually practiced self-care. I share this loving advice to my family and friends all of the time. However, when this advice needs to be taken by “yours truly,” it is not always easy.

My family one-by-one have been sick over the last few weeks. I was grateful that I had energy and ability to offer extra care and attention to each person and still continue to juggle our hectic family schedule and blogging. It ain’t easy, my friends!

Over the weekend I was feeling quite run down. On Tuesday morning, on a day where I had committed to attending an exciting influencer event, I was feeling downright lowsy and sick.

The Gentle Art of Saying No

It was at this moment I had a to make a decision.

Do I push myself further and attend this event or do I say no and rest? The younger me would of said yes because I am a recovering people pleaser and I tend to push myself past my limit, making me mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausted.

This time I said no. Saying no allowed me to rest my body and mind. It was such a sweet gift only I could give myself. I enjoyed the solitude and quietness of my home and mind. It was exactly the rejuvenation I needed to recover, recharge and rejuvenate.

Keep Calm and Say No

The next day I was able to fulfill a commitment in place to have a commercial filmed at my home for a collaboration. It is hard for me to say no because I don’t want to disappoint others. But, I realize in life you can’t make everyone happy and that is okay.

Thank you for allowing me to share my thoughts with you. When I saw these images of myself smiling and enjoying this free-flowing, long-sleeved maxi dress from SHEIN I knew I had to share my eureka moment with you…….the art of saying no.

I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about this topic down below! Have a wonderful weekend dolls!

So true! And saying no doesn’t mean you lose something, but rather you gain strength and sense of purpose! I too have struggled with this, but I’m getting braver and smarter, I’m trying to choose what’s best for me and my family. Thanks for sharing!

    love the dress and necklace!
I feel like I’ve gotten a lot better at saying no since having children, HA! It’s important to say no at times instead of piling more and more on your plate until you feel overwhelmed and disappointed by all of your YESES! It doesn’t make us a bad person to say No thank you I just can’t right now, it only means we’re human!

I love your dress, the color and the style is just lovely. Earlier I was always like Miss Yesssiie who always used to say yes or agree, but now I have evolved and say no when I’m uncomfortable!!

Recognizing our limits and allowing time for rest is so important. We can’t be the best mom, wife, friend, daughter, etc. if we aren’t making our health and wellness a priority!
