Investing in a good pair of shoes definitely pays off. Wearing ill-fitted and poor quality shoes can do damage to your feet. Even though high quality shoes are more expensive up front, the cost of paying for them pays off. Read on for three tips to help you determine if your shoe is worth the purchase.

Are Shoes Worth Investing In?

Investing in a good pair of shoes definitely pays off. In my last blog post, I mentioned the importance of saving for quality pieces. This rule applies to footwear as well. From wearing ill-fitted and poor quality shoes for years, I’ve had a few painful foot surgeries to remedy the situation. I can say with full confidence that selecting shoes that are well made is critical to your health and well being. Let’s not forget, it is the best way to express your sense of style!

Before you make that impulse purchase at your next shopping spree in the shoe aisle, consider these three reasons why shoes are worth investing in:

High Quality vs Low Quality. When you invest in shoes that are made up of high quality materials (such as genuine leather for example) you can be assured they will last a long time. Full grain leather shoes can handle the daily wear and tear. There is less chance of flaking and material disintegration. It is more expensive up front but you will get maximum use out of them.

Stick to Classics. Shoe trends are fun and exciting. But, they also can be overwhelming and chintzy. Make sure to have at least one classic shoe staple in your closet that will stand the test of time. I can’t tell you how many times my nude and black colored heels have been worn by me time and time again! They are colors that are timeless and pair well with everything.

My favorite pair of black statement heels are these ones from SAS Shoes called REINA. They are made from beautiful Italian leather and handcrafted meticulously. My favorite part is the shimmering snakeskin accents on the heel and uppers and the luxe patented leather covered toe. This heel is a show stopper!  It is comfortable to wear and finely crafted in Italy.

Craftsmanship is Key. Study the way the shoe was made before you decide to buy. Shoes that are welted, a method to which the shoe’s upper and insole are attached to the sole (either by machine or hand), is the most labor intensive and durable. Choose this type of shoe vs soles that have been “cemented” to the bottom. Cemented soles over time will peel off. Has this ever happened to you?

Keep Your Feet Happy

Taking care of my feet is part of my wellness ritual. Choosing shoes that are well made and comfortable is an investment in me. Style is definitely a key factor in purchasing power but make sure to include my three key points as well. We are on our feet all of the time. It supports our weight and gets us to places. Let’s not take our feet for granted anymore. Now, you understand why shoes are definitely worth investing in. I would love to hear your thoughts about this.

I completely agree on how important it is to invest in a good pair of shoes. It’s better to spend more money on a stylish, durable pair than to just pick up a lower quality pair to save a few bucks. Except flip flops, those are very easy to replace and get wet frequently.

I definitely feel that quality shoes are worth the investment. A well-crafted pair of shoes will last much longer than a cheap, inexpensive pair will and will be much better for your feet.

I totally agree that craftsmanship is key. If the shoes aren’t comfy and well made, you’ll regret every day you wear them!

I bought a pair of nine west boots about ten years ago and wore right through the soles because they were so comfortable. Unfortunately they couldn’t be repaired. But it is definitely worth investing in good quality shoes.

I’ve learned the hard way that cheap shoes are just not worth it. The aches and pains they cause mean they’ll end up being discarded quickly.

I love a good pair of heels, or quality shoes!! I sometimes buy less expensive ones that are trendy, but I try to invest in the classics so they will last me and then keep investing in them at the shoe repair when they need it because its much better than buying a new pair cheap.

These shoes look very nice. Shoes are very important to me but I also need comfort. It takes me a while to find shoes but when I do find a pair I usually keep them for a good while
