Begin at Home

Giving as a family strengthens our family bond. It also teaches our children about compassion. When we give as a family, we reinforce our family value of giving back. And the most poignant time to do that is during the holiday season. The family unit is the perfect setting to model and to learn charity firsthand. Traditions of giving that were instilled in our families play a big role in how we choose to give today. Let’s motivate our kids to give. To be quite honest, I think kids understand the idea of “giving” more than adults. While many have the luxury to shop for gifts this holiday season, there are so many others who don’t.

Kids Love to Give

Every holiday season, we have a tradition of giving back to our community in a variety of ways. These include volunteering our time at church or school and donating food and financial assistance to families in need. This holiday season, my eldest daughter even took part in a community service project, where she helped to plant 800 trees in our city. Also, utilizing the power of the internet and discovering new charities or ones dear to your heart are other uncomplicated ways to give.

Join Amazon in Delivering Smiles this Holiday

Amazon truly makes giving back to charities and organizations that are close to your heart effortless in three simple ways: AmazonSmile, AmazonSmile Charity Lists, and donating with Alexa.

How to Give Back in Three Ways!

AmazonSmile Charity Lists make it easy to browse by cause or search for your favorite organization’s Charity List, where you can purchase items and have them donated and delivered directly to the charity’s designated address. To select a charity and view their list, simply visit Smile.Amazon.com/CharityLists.

AmazonSmile allows you to support your favorite charitable organization by donating a portion of the price of all eligible purchases to a charity of your choice. Simply select your Smile charity at smile.amazon.com.

Donating with Alexa. Amazon makes it easier than ever for those who thrive in the spirit of giving to, give a monetary donation to a registered charity of their choice with Alexa – just say, “Alexa, I want to make a donation” to any Alexa-enabled device!

Teach Your Children the Spirit of Kindness

Our  AmazonSmile charity is HIS dual-immersion elementary school (Spanish/English program). Compared to other schools in the area, HIS elementary school has a higher percentage of low-income families. However, what really soars and makes a difference in the lives of the students is the teachers’ commitment to education and instruction. The staff members do their best to provide as many programs as they can to make their students’ education enriching.

I love that AmazonSmile helps to make supporting my son’s school so easy. Now there is another reason why shopping on Amazon is my go-to choice. Amazon donates a percentage of the price of your eligible purchase to the public charitable organization of your choice. The one-time setup takes less than a minute, and you get the same prices, products, and services you’re used to when shopping at Amazon. Don’t worry; it doesn’t cost you any extra; the only difference is now you’re giving to the charity organization of your choice every time you shop.
